Other Information

The cost of each course is:

  • Level 1 (Assistant coach) £75
  • Level 2 (Coach) £75
  • Paul Thompson’s coaching clinic (see website for details)

Your university may provide financial assistance if your team doesn’t have any qualified coaches, so its worth asking them.

In these courses you will cover such aspects as: rules, teaching techniques, skill analysis, practice organisation, checking skills, developing fitness, individual team tactics, on ice sessions (including skating assessment) and then a short exam which needs to be sent back.

You must hold your Level 1 qualification for one season before attempting your Level 2.  For more information on this and coaching courses in general, please see the EIHA coaching website . Details of the Accelerated Programme are outlined in the Coaching Protocol.

If you wish to attend any of the Level 1, 2 or 3 coaching courses listed above or have any questions, please email Jill Easson at (Please note, Paul Thompson’s coaching clinic has a separate booking process - see the website for details). If you are booked on to a course, you will be sent information on times, venue, what to bring etc. If you do not hear anything, please get in touch with Jill Easson.

It is useful to let your club know if you have booked onto a course or workshop.  It is strongly recommended that each club should have at least 2 qualified coaches (preferably one per team).
