  • Team GBU Seeking Sports Therapist to support athletes

    Team Great Britain Universities is seeking applications for a key role to support our high-performance programmes.  In addition to working at events such as the World University Games and other international and domestic matches, the sports therapist is key to the delivery team working within the training camps from our High-Performance Centre in Sheffield.

     

    The GBU Sports Therapist reports directly to the Head of International Programme. The post holder is responsible for the management of all injuries supporting the GBU doctor, attending all training camps and matches associated with the programme. The GBU Sports Therapist is also responsible for the leadership of the student volunteers in an appropriate and organised direction whilst also assisting in the administration and delivery of the GBU programme.

     

    Requirements:

    • BSc in either Sports Rehabilitation; Sports Therapy; Physiotherapy.
    • Accredited and insured by the associated governing body
    • Previous experience with pitch side immediate care in a contact sport

     

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Lead on emergency rink-side immediate care and provide expert opinion on injuries sustained on the ice
    • Assess and treat players as appropriate when injured
    • Lead on concussion testing on all GBU Players
    • Support the Strength and Conditioning lead in developing injury rehabilitation training for players in preparation for return to play
    • Support the education of all players in terms of injury prevention, injury care and post-match recovery
    • Work with the Head of International Programme to supervise, coordinate and educate the student volunteers
